Now I’m on a horse…

I went down to the lobby of the Intiman Theater for the second day of the fabulous EtsyRain Holiday show yesterday.
Here I am with the talented and adorable Jessie Oleson of CakeSpy fame. I’m not sure how this happened, but we are randomly making the same face! (Photo courtesy of Thea Starr.)
I didn’t buy as much as I wanted to, but I came away with some lovely treasures.
This is some handmade felt by Nikki Wheeler. Not sure what I’m going to use it for, but I’m looking forward to playing with it!
Being a complete textile addict, I grabbed up a couple bracelets made of recycled merino sweater pieces by Plain & Tall by Sarah Stoller. I told myself I was going to give them as gifts but the more I look at and touch them, the more I feel like they might have to stay mine.
Finally, I’m absolutely in love with the work of LaRu. The one on the right is supposed to be a belt buckle, but she gave me permission to turn it into the biggest sweetest pendant in the world… all mine!
I also arranged some swap-y goodness with Ugly Baby Shower Art, and a future custom cuff by Greenbelts.
Finally, I know I’ll be stalking the webshops of QueenHeron Creations and Greenleaf Knitting in the near future.
Thanks to the Marlo and the EtsyRain Leadership Team for putting this show together. More of Thea’s show photos here.

“You muppets are good for nothing! You just lay around in the street all day counting…”
This is old, I guess, but I’ve never seen it before.

Sometime I sing in the car. Caught myself recently getting really into this little blues number… I mean, I was singing like I meant every word, until I realized what song it was:

This is the sort of thing that makes Merlin Mann my hero.

This is what happened when I typed my name into “Personas,” an installation by Aaron Zinman.
You type in your name and it data mines the web, giving you an analysis of the findings. From the website:
Personas shows you how the Internet sees you. It is a critique of data mining, revealing the computer’s uncanny insights and inadvertent errors.
Since I don’t have a last name, I used “needle felting” so it’d only return info about me. As a result, I think this is more of a summation of the themes of my work. Spooky how much this program gleaned about what’s “behind the cute” of a lot of what I create.
What will Personas say about you?
(Thanks to @SisterDiane and @feliciaday.)

These are consistently magnificent. How could he possibly pick just one? I mean… sure, there’s the one with him white knuckling his sandwich while huggin’ a tree. But wait, the one holding his cock is also quite nice.
I guess all there is left to say is “Ladies and gentleman, I give you Kyle Marlet.”

Here’s a photo of my childhood copy of “Grover and the Everything in the Whole Wide World Museum” from 1974.

You’ll notice a ballpoint addition to “The Things That Are Soft And Furry” exhibit over to the left of the bear cub. My dad contributed an extra item on a pedestal and called it “Mom’s Tuschy.”
And no, I prefer not to think about whether it’s an accurate drawing or not, okay?
